The remains of the body were recently discovered in the shallow waters of the Limpopo River.
The name and age of the victim is yet to be disclosed to the public.
The incident happened at a time when thousands of Zimbabweans living and working in South Africa made a late dash for Beitbridge following the announcement of a lockdown on Saturday, causing a severe backlog – and significant overcrowding.
Many desperate citizens have resorted to using illegal crossing points to get into South Africa. Many are risking their lives by crossing the crocodile-infested Limpopo River just so they can cross over into South Africa to look for greener pastures.

Members of the public have always been warned against using undesignated crossing points when going outside the country.
