Mbare Tout (Hwindi) Appears In Court For Kidnapping A Policeman:
A mbare tout was yesterday dragged to court facing kidnapping and malicious damage to property charges.
The tout reportedly kidnapped a policeman who had arrested them for operating from an undesignated point in the CBD.
According to H-Metro, the suspect identified as Blessing Kamutero who is 30 years old appeared before Harare Magistrate Judith Taruvinga and was not asked to plead
Meanwhile, the other tout identified as Ronald Mutute and the commuter omnibus driver is not yet apprehended.
The court heard that on December the 4th, the victim, Superintendent Leonard Chabata confronted a Toyota Hiace that was illegally picking passengers at the intersection of Simon Muzenda Street(4th street) and Robert Mugabe way.
Superintendent Chabata reportedly warned the trio to stop picking up passengers, the driver then drove a few meters away while the two touts Mutute and Kamutero continued loading the Kombi.
After the Kombi crew refused to take heed of the warning, Chabata reportedly entered the vehicle and told the driver that they were under arrest and he should drive to Harare Central Police Station.
The driver refused to take orders from Superintendent Chabata while Mutute became violent and tried to push the policeman out of the speeding vehicle.
They reportedly drove to the Avenues area then to Workington while Constable Ngororombe and a team of police reinforcements were on their way to Chabata’s aid and finally stopped the car in Rugare residential area.
The trio disembarked from the car and fled from the Police officers but Mr Kamutero was later apprehended in Mbare.
