Following a tip from the public, a Gokwe man was apprehended after being discovered in possession of an elephant tusk.
Byron Gopoza was arrested after being discovered in possession of an elephant task weighing 7, 163 kg, according to the police, who confirmed this via their official Twitter account.
“Byron Gopoza (40), who was discovered in possession of raw ivory at Mutibvuli stores in Siamuchembu without a license, was detained by police in Gokwe. One elephant tusk, weighing 7,163 kg, was found on the suspect, according to authorities.
Following a public tip-off, police in Gokwe also detained another individual last week who was found to be in possession of six elephant tusks.
