Daniel Mbolu Musyoka, the missing returning officer for Embakasi East for Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has been found dead in Kajiado County.

Police from Loitoktok, Kajiado South sub-county were notified on Monday evening that a middle-aged man’s body had been found in the bush.

On Thursday morning last week, Musyoka was last saw at his desk in the East African School of Aviation tallying center.

His sisters, Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya, were reportedly the ones who recognized the body at the Loitokitok sub-county mortuary, according to the police.

“Last night, his two sisters recognized the body at Loitokntok Sub County Hospital.

We are awaiting word from police headquarters on whether to transport the body to the municipal morgue or to stay.

According to Loitok Tok Police Chief Kipruto Ruto, we are awaiting word from police headquarters regarding whether or not to transport the body to the city morgue.

He had filed a missing person report at the Embakasi police station and was 53 years old.

At the Embakasi East polling place, Mr. Musyoka was acting as the returning officer.

Mr. Ruto claims that the middle-aged man’s body, which had been dropped into the valley of a dry seasonal river, was found early that morning in Kilombero Forest, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, by herders.

For victims who were killed elsewhere, bodies are frequently dumped in this location.

Mr. Ruto claimed that although the body was naked, his clothes, which included a track suit and a Maasai Shuka, were found near the valley’s edge.

The victim showed obvious evidence of struggle and torture before he passed away. There were no discovered identity documents.

“It was clear that the victim had been slain elsewhere and that the body had been discarded in the valley. Before the death, there were signs of torture on the body in the form of scars. He might have experienced a painful death, Kipruto said.
